Marbled Papers

Marbling is considered a book art and I was introduced to it when I was studying bookbinding. It is an ancient Persian technique used to decorate paper using watercolors. Called EBRU or Cloud-Painting, the paint is floated on thickened water, manipulated into patterns with feathers and 'rakes', then transferred to paper. It is a fussy setup and prefers humid weather, but the process is seductive and irresistible.
